This is the first album since Evolver that has a specific 'sound' and style. Don't Tread on Me, Uplifter, and Universal Pulse were just all very safe and standard 311. They didn't really do much to distinguish themselves, it was just 'more of the same'. You could have condensed the three (or at least the latter 2) into a single album.This album is so much different. There are moments throughout that throw back to Uplifter, Soundsystem, From Chaos, and The Blue Album, but all of the songs are very fresh and inspired sounding and wouldn't fit on any of the previous albums. This album actually seems like a solid, cohesive, creative effort instead of just a collection of songs.Early standouts for me are 'Simple True', 'Made in the Shade', and 'Make It Rough'.

'The Great Divide' and 'Showdown' are next, I'd say. Only song I wasn't too thrilled about was 'The Call'.
