I disagree with all 'answers.' You folks answering do realize that this chip or the Matrox G200 (also released in 1998) is the graphics adapter for most MODERN enterprise servers, right? These were some of the best 2D video cards produced andas such are still applicable today, hence their continued use.Check here.here.of these servers simply don't have the space (or need) for a 'modern' graphics adapter since we only use the onboard video for administration tasks. We would however like to benefit from the supported resolutions of the video cards in order toconfigure the servers. The fact that Microsoft hasn't written a driver for it yet is incredibly annoying, especially when working with multiple Hyper-V VM's. I have tried every x64 Windows Server (2003, 2008)driver I can find to no avail.

Theyall list an incorrect operating system version as the error message. Perhaps it's just an.inf file issue?

OK, you smug d-bags, here's the need for anything that drives the es1000 or other lower end video: power management. You can plug in a pcie card and then go crazy with the cheese whiz except OOB managementcards tie into the primary video card and not the add-on card. OOB management shows nothing during post or after the OS is up.

Next, the generic M$ VGA driver kills any power management features S1 to S4. Run powercfg -a to see that effect calling out thegeneric video chip. Disabling the on board video and going solely with add on again nixes OOB management functionality.Question still stands: anyone had success with 64 bit es1000 driver ( hopefully server 2012 R2). I also have a newish server (albeit lower end specs) that is my test bench for home use. It is about a year or so old and the resolution is atrocious! Makes it impossible study in a completely isolated environment without having to set up NATs and VLANs(exactly what I am trying to study!).It should be a simple INF edit that solves this one would think.just needs someone who has done this before.
