The 2 things are unrelated.For the patching problem:1. There has to be a pop2.exe in the selected directory.2. You have to have write access to it. (It will be modified.) That means if you have installed it into a restricted area and have UAC on, you'll have to launch uniws as admin.3. If the gog version happens to have an unrecognized executable, just replace it with one from the retail version. (Or check out the file for the correct offset and make a new profile for it. Or ask someone who can do it.)Launcher issue:It has a fixed list of supported hardware and doesn't recognize new ones.
It does it for everyone, the only way around it is writing your own launcher. (To make it work, you need to create a mutex called 'POP5Lanuncher', that's what pop2.exe is looking for.).
. retail does not work on Windows 10 and is disabled by default on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 when the KB3086255 update is installed.
