I was really looking forward to upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for all the promised features.Unfortunately the initial process which claimed to take a few seconds to complete appears to be taking forever. The screen simply shows a whirling dot 'in progress indicator' as illustrated here.My wireless connection to the Internet has supported downloads at 70 Mbps rate continuously until I started the Windows 10 update over the Internet using the 'Get Windows 10' task on my Taskbar which said my upgrade was ready.

The processhas been going on for over an hour and according to my Windows 8.1 Wireless Network Condition Status display only27 MB of data has been received by my computer.I think this indicates an EXTREMELY slow data download from Microsoft servers. At this rate it will takeseveral days just to download what Get Windows 10 screen says will be 3 GB of data. Are other end users also seeing this very slow update rate for the initial download?

Is is safe to just abort the download (click on the red-X) and wait a few weeks to try again?Later when I restart the download will it pick up where it left off? Will it even be possible to restart the download?CorrectionI misinterpreted the Windows 10 initial notification. Step 2 said the update file was already successfully downloaded before I started Step 3 (install the update). I have no idea what caused the long delay but after closing the window three times and restartingmy PC this time the wait was only less than a minute and after having the system reboot the install proceeded like a normal 'update' for things like a security update.

It is now 100% complete (after maybe 15 minuted) with, 'Do not turn off your computer'.Auto shutting down and reboot. Loading file.

'Upgrading Windows'. Copying files 'Your PC will restart several times. Sit back and relax'. Configuring files (building to 100%).

Turns out through follow on support from Microsoft Tech Support that my PC had a particularly vicious virus that required a complete reinstallation of Windows 8.1. The virus went totally unnoticed by McAfee software.I gave the Microsoft technician permission to 'take over' my PC over the Internet and he reinstalled Windows 8.1, upgraded me to Windows 10 and even reinstalled Office 365 all remotely.I'm very pleased with the support I received from Microsoft which apparently was a side benefit of subscribing to Office 365.My system is now 100% operational except for any unwanted second Windows 10 'profile' with it's own log-in name, password, and directory structure. It also has a duplicate copy of all my personal files that are basically worthless as the files are all read-onlyfor some reason. Once I've backed up my primary profile (for safety), I will delete the second profile.Thank you, Microsoft. Thanks Anil,Are the servers still overloaded?

I started my download more than two weeks ago, and so far it looks like there is zero progress on the download. If I click on 'view progress' it takes me to my Windows update page, then if I click 'check for updates' I geta message about not being logged-in as an admin (see screen shot).

I'm using the only account on the computer, and it has admin privileges (I checked), so I don't understand why I'm getting that message, or why my upgrade is not downloading. I'm running anMSI GE60 with 186 GB free disk space, intel i7 240 GHz processor and 8 GB ram, so there should be no problems with the computer specs.Any hints?Cheers,Laura. Thanks Sharif,Background Intelligent Transfer Services is running.Windows Update has a blank in the status column, and 'disabled' in thestartup type column. Right clicking shows a menu with 'start, stop, pause, resume' all grayed out.I had some trouble a few months ago with a glitchy update that disabled my wifi connection, so had to do a system restore until the glitch was fixed.

Not sure how that could have disabled Windows Update (I don't recall doing it on purpose, I just waiteda few days to re-install the updates), but it's the only thing I can think of that is related.Ran two virus scans (Malware Bites and Avaast) two days ago, but will update the definitions and re-do them in case some malware is preventing Windows from updating something that would interfere with the malware.Suspect the problem is with Windows update, so have not yet tried renaming and checking the software distribution. Please let me know if you know how to re-enable Windows Update.Cheers,Laura. My Windows 10 experience has been a computer nightmare which has gone on for months now. I've been using IBM computers since the 1980s and I've never had this much trouble thought the 2000 edition of Windows was nothing to crow about. In the past three days I no longer had to reboot my desktop computer (at least twice) to get it to become stable. Let's call it an antifreeze approach.

I thought my troubles were behind me due to some update that happened that I wasn't aware of. I couldonly say to myself - finally they have fixed those terrible freeze-up issues. Not so fast!

Now the download speeds are miserable. The speed test results are normal but the bottle neck has to be somewhere else. As I type this I am running a complete virus scan with System Mechanic on my Dell Inspiron computer. My Dell BIOS is up todate. I've made System Mechanic and Dell aware of my issue.Unless I pay MS, I can't talk to anyone about this persistent problem and I don't feel like paying MS who I believe created the problem in the first place. If my computer doesn't have a virus issue then I will have to conclude that the problem is with Windows10.

Dell says my BIOS is up to date. System Mechanic is up to date.If I had to choose between the freezing and slow download speeds, I think I would choose the freezing because you could reboot a couple of times to fix it. With the download problem, what do you do?Here's what I will do in the future - buy an Apple computer. And I will never return to the Windows water torture ever again.Do you hear me? I have had it with this Windows water torture! Enough already!

I have come across these software tools that allow to slow down music and manipulate it freely. I think this is very interesting stuff and would like to dedicate this thread to make a kind of listing of the existing software with a description of what they can do.It would probably be best to limit the answers to one program per answer and make the thread a community wiki. I think this can be a useful reference for when similar questions about transcriptions will come up again. For another fully featured commercial option for OS-X and for iPhone and iPad, check out Anytune.is in the Mac App Store, and has a 30 day free trial available for download from the vendor's site.is available in a free version (with IAP) as well as a more fully featured version called Anytune Pro+.It's a terrific app for transcription as well as for playing along with your songs.

Lots of features - almost too many which can sometimes make the UI a bit overwhelming. Still it's impressive how much functionality can be squeezed into an iPhone app and it isn't too difficult to learn how it works.
